Law Division is looking for Legislation Assistant Directors and Legislation Advisers with a background in law, economics, or other relevant disciplines to fill roles across the division's Law Design Branches.

We would also consider legally qualified applicants who hold or be eligible to hold a legal practising certificate in the ACT for roles in our General Counsel's Branch.

In Law Division you will collaborate with people from across Treasury, other Government agencies and the community.
- lead the design and development of legislative projects, conduct research and analysis and provide advice on matters relevant to the work of your team with support and guidance from an Executive Level 2 Director;
- prepare drafting instructions to implement new policy, briefings to Ministers, replies to parliamentary questions and other correspondence;
- support the develop of policy by providing advice on legislative design options and implications;
- have knowledge in law, economics, taxation or other relevant disciplines;
- possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise within the Treasury, with other government departments and agencies, and stakeholders;
- support and engage with officers across the APS to work collaboratively;
- develop the capabilities of junior team members from across the Law Design Branches or Legislation Policy and Delivery Branch; and
- be open, accountable and of high integrity.

**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**:
Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, including but not limited to economics, business and law.

An understanding of the legislative process and the development of drafting instructions for complex legislative projects will be highly regarded.
