Tombolo Academy is a unique specialist Independent School that caters for twice exceptional students aged 8-16 who have previously found it challenging to learn and engage in a mainstream setting.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Working closely with the Principal the **Human Resources Manager **will support the School's vision and growth strategy. This role will entail the implementation of operations including Human Resources and Workplace Relations, Risk & Compliance, OHS Management, Financial Management and management of Facilities & Resources.

The role will work throughout the year, including school holiday periods and accrues **six (6) weeks annual leave **per year.

Whilst primarily based on site at Hampton, the Human Resources Manager role offers flexible, working arrangements, with **some capacity to work remotely **from home.

**RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE**:

- Oversee risk management processes to ensure the School's compliance with regulatory bodies including VRQA minimum standards and Child Safety, including Ministerial Order 1359 and other Ministerial orders
- Provide advice around the interpretation of procedural and legislative guidelines and associated policy and process requirements
- Ensure all policies and procedures are reviewed and effectively embedded across the School
- Manage the OHS management system and framework, implement OHS systems, policies and procedures that are compliant with legislations, code of practice and OHS guidelines
- Developing and implementing occupational health and safety programs and equal employment opportunity programs, and ensuring compliance with related statutory requirements
- Determining, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating human resource management strategies, policies and plans to meet business needs
- Developing and implementing performance management systems to plan, appraise and improve individual and team performance
- Monitoring employment costs and productivity levels
- Manage the Finance function for the School including oversight of payroll and accounts processing
- Prepare, monitor and update the School's Business Plan and develop financial forecasts, advising the Principal on implications of financial decisions
- Prepare and maintain annual financial budgets, cash flow projections and other reports as required by the Principal or Board
- Work with the Principal to coordinate the maintenance of school buildings, information technology, and equipment
- Manage and arrange external contractors and consultants
- New starter inductions and orientation including development and maintenance of content on Company software systems

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a highly competent Human Resources Manager, including an in-depth understanding of strategic human resources and financial management, business operations, facilities management, and management of staff
- Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in a school setting.
- Tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in Business Management, Human Resources, Economics, Accounting or related area.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements for registration and accreditation of schools and solid understanding of the general regulatory requirements affecting the education industry, with particular knowledge of VRQA minimum standards
- A current Victorian Driving Licence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 and experience working with Xero
- Working with Children's Check and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain this)
- Be legally entitled to work in Australia
