This position is responsible for the development and delivery of activities that facilitate the engagement of clients of the MSIR and AOD programs in a positive and meaningful way. This position will provide leadership for activities and events at the MSIR, on the NRCH footprint and off-site (where applicable) to promote client social connection, facilitate client engagement with NRCH staff and the local community, as well as enable client participation in a range of social and recreational activities.
This position is part of the MSIR Harm Reduction team and works closely with the MSIR Client Advocate, the NRCH Communications and Community Engagement Team as well as staff of the MSIR and AOD Programs. This position reports to the Harm Reduction Practitioner Team Leader, and is a part-time, job-share arrangement.
**Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Effectively engage with clients of the MSIR and AOD programs
- Uphold and promote the dignity of all people who use the service at NRCH as well as promote awareness and understanding in the community
- Identify and explore opportunities for client activities and events consistent with the objectives of this program
- Lead the development and delivery of an activities program for MSIR and AOD clients
- Conduct risk assessments and detailed project planning (including staff, resources and budget) for activities and events
- Work effectively with the NRCH Communications and Community Engagement Team to ensure that activities are supported and promoted across NRCH
- Provide leadership to other NRCH staff involved in client activities and events
**Key Selection Criteria**:
Essential qualifications, attributes and skills include, but are not limited to:
- Qualifications in AOD, Welfare or Social Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing or equivalent
- Experience in consulting with clients; planning, coordinating and running activities
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with vulnerable people
- Experience of working in a trauma-informed model of care
