As part of Redland City Council's Parks Maintenance Services Team, you'll play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing our high-profile parks, town centres, and destination spaces across the Redlands Coast.This part-time position (five days per fortnight) offers a fantastic roster - work Wednesday to Friday one week, then Monday and Tuesday the next - giving you a long weekend every second week.From planting, trimming, hedging and weeding, through to maintaining park furniture and assets, this role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, takes pride in presentation, and wants to help keep our community spaces vibrant and welcoming.Your responsibilities will include:Horticultural maintenance including planting, trimming, hedging, and weeding to keep parks and gardens maintained to Council standardsMaintaining park furniture, garden beds, and other community assetsOperate and maintain a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectivelyIdentifying and reporting any safety or maintenance issues while on siteWorking with minimal supervision while taking pride in producing quality resultsSharing your horticultural knowledge with the team and providing practical advice when neededCollaborating with your teammates to deliver great outcomes for the community.Skills and experience:Hands-on experience in horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance, with a passion for quality resultsPhysically fit and comfortable performing manual outdoor work such as planting, lifting, trimming, and diggingAble to work safely and follow WHS practices, while identifying and reporting hazards on siteConfident using and maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery for horticulture and irrigation tasksStrong teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute positively to a cooperative and supportive team environmentGood communication and customer service skills when dealing with colleagues and the communityPractical knowledge and technical skills in horticulture, with a keen interest in growing and maintaining healthy, vibrant landscapes.Make sure to read the full Position Description before applying - it outlines everything you need to tailor your resume and cover letter.Why this role stands out:Enjoy early starts and early finishes for better work-life balancePart-time role with 38 hours across a fortnightly scheduleWork closely with a direct team of four each day.More reasons to love working with us:17.5% annual leave loading + Christmas ex-gratia dayPaid parental leave and purchased leave optionsAccess to development and study assistance programsDiscounts with 400+ retailers and fitness providersFlexible working options through RedFlex - our flexible work program offering flexibility in how, when and where you work.Redland City Council is a local government organisation proudly serving the Redlands Coast community.
