**Support Worker**
- Working across the Greater Sydney area
- Mileage paid for private car use
- Work is needs based and casual

**Support Workers **are responsible for supporting young people placed in Child Protection and Out-of-Home-Care providing direct work and support, as and when required.

**About the role**

Intensive Support acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia. We pay respect to them and to the Elders past, present and future.

Intensive Support is a community service providing out-of-home-care services to young people on child protection court orders who cannot live with their parents or guardians.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated **casual Support Workers** to provide services to children in out-of-home-care. These services include mentoring, supervising family visits, transportation and providing respite care.

**Essential Criteria**:

- NSW Working with Children Check
- National Criminal History Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Australian Class C Driver's License
- Full time access to a comprehensively insured car
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Computer and Microsoft suite literate
- Experience engaging with young children/youth

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Completed or are working towards a minimum Cert III in Community Services/YouthServices
- Experience in working with children who have experienced trauma

**The Role**:

- Provide supervision and transport for family visits
- Provide respite care services by caring for children and young people
- Identify and support the physical, emotional and relational needs of the children and young people within our care
- Manage complex and challenging behaviours
- Help young people to engage with their local communities and culture
- Adhere to our Child Safe Code of Conduct and Company Values at all times
- Provide various types of support to Children and Young People placed in Child Protection and Out of Home Care settings
- Collaborative support, advocating for people
- Assist in care/behaviour plans for people
- Completion of required documentation, for operational compliance
- And ensure compliance of company policies and child protection procedures

Experience and Skills required:

- Be energetic and enthusiastic,
- Have a passion for working with young people with complex mental health challenges
- A certificate in Human Services and or a similar relevant field (not mandatory)
- Confidence and ability to deal with difficult situations
- Experience in Children & Youth work
- Training and/or experience supporting people from trauma backgrounds including child abuse and neglect (not mandatory)
- Current Australian "C" Class driver license, is a must and your own fully insured/registered vehicle
- Availability during weekdays, during afternoon and early evenings, weekends
- Applicants must reside in Australia to be eligible for consideration
- National Police Check and NSW Working With Children Certificate (mandatory)
- 100 points identification (mandatory)
- Vaccination for COVID-19 or holding an exemption for COVID-19 (mandatory)
