**About our Organisation**

Kurbingui is an Aboriginal community based and driven not for profit organisation that offers service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, families, children and young people living within the Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and South East regions.

Kurbingui currently delivers various community services covering areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement programs, education support for families and children from preschool to tertiary, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women's and men's programs and cultural group activities, and health and nutrition.

**About the Role**

The role of Support Worker is to provide exceptional service whilst supporting Kurbingui's client to meet their goals. This includes:

- Working autonomously to provide appropriate levels of support to maintain and improve the client's level of independence; including parenting support, community participation, transportation to appointments, and various other needs to support their case management.
- Responding to the client's needs and collaborating positively with their families, support network, and others in their lives.
- Keep accurate and complete records of activities via progress notes.
- Work within Kurbingui's policies and procedures.

**Due to the support needs of our client, you must be available and willing to work a varied pattern of shifts across a 24/7 roster (including short notice, short shifts, night shifts, weekends and public holidays) to be considered for this role.**

**To be successful in the role, you will (Key Selection Criteria)**:

- Identify as an Aboriginal & or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Have an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society.
- Previous experience as a support worker.
- Excellent communication skills, reporting skills, and a compassionate approach to work.
- Flexibility and availability are essential in this role, with the ability to work a variety of shifts; morning, day, afternoon, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in conducting safety and risk assessments.

**Qualifications/Certifications**
- Mandatory - current Drivers Licence (QLD)
- Mandatory - evidence of COVID vaccination or contraindication must be provided prior to commencement
- Mandatory - possession of, or ability to obtain, a 'Positive Notice' Blue card - must be obtained / provided prior to commencement
- Desirable - qualifications and/or equal professional experience in mental health, disability, aged care, allied health, social work, community services.
- First Aid and CPR - or willingness to obtain.
- Registered, roadworthy car with comprehensive insurance.

This position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2020.
