We have an exciting (and rare) opportunity to join our Laboratory team based in Darra as a Chemical Analyst. You will carry out specialist chemical analysis of cement, concrete and related products, as well as supervising the day to day running and test work in the chemical lab. You will work alongside Laboratory personnel as well as other team leaders and senior technical staff.

**About the role**:
In this role you will:

- Carry out unsupervised routine and non-routine chemical analysis of cement, concrete and related products unsupervised
- Manage the operation, calibration and maintenance of equipment (with emphasis on XRF)
- Be able to offer specialist analytical advice to Laboratory Manager
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the laboratory
- Conduct investigations under limited guidance and supervision
- Review and modify existing methods for evaluation and approval
- Develop and validate new test methods for submission to NATA
- Develop expertise in specialist testing techniques
- Provide strong technical support and involvement in troubleshooting and problem solving of analytical problems within the laboratory
- Prepare technical reports which summarises and communicates the results of test work and investigations

**About you**:

- Certificate 4 or equivalent in Laboratory techniques is essential as a minimum
- 5+ years (minimum) experience as a Laboratory Technician, preferably non-routine testing
- Possess a high level of knowledge of NATA requirements
- Strong, technical mindset
- High attention to detail and a commitment to high quality technical work
- High level understanding of good laboratory practice and testing principles
- Operational knowledge of laboratory data management systems
- Strong analytical knowledge
- Highly developed computer skills
- Strong understanding of technical relationships
- Good interpersonal and time management skills
- Willingness to grow technical capability
