**About the role**:
This position will work collaboratively within the Counselling team and will have specialisation in working with Children and clients impacted by domestic and family violence. The role will focus on supporting recovery and healing from the impacts of domestic and family violence.
This is fixed term contract until 30th July 2026, working 4 days per week. The successful incumbent will work out of our Tuggerah Family Centre supporting our Family and Relationship Services and Family Law Counselling services.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Provide direct counselling services (in person or telehealth) including suitability screening, and actioning appropriate referrals to meet our contract requirements and guidelines.
- Provide time framed, trauma and DFV informed individual and family, counselling services depending on client needs.
- Provision of various group work facilitation with an ability to plan, write, deliver and evaluate group programs.
- Ensure safety standards are maintained for self and all hazards and incidents are reported within appropriate timeframes.
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Welfare, Psychology, or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant registrations (or working towards) with peak bodies such as ACA, PACFA, AASW or APHRA.
- Additional study in areas of attachment theory, play therapy for child developmental trauma, family systems theory, men's behaviour change, domestic violence training, and parenting support and education following childhood trauma.
- Proven and demonstrable knowledge and experience of working with families experiencing domestic violence within the dynamics of family systems to transition from trauma to safety and recovery.
- Experience in various forms of counselling and therapeutic frameworks.
- Working understanding of family law with current legislation and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO's)
- Actively engage in self-awareness growth and adopt reflective practice to address unconscious bias in your practice.
- Ability to demonstrate networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage crisis or safety situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Ability to deliver therapy within a solution focused, time frame model.
- A valid NSW Driver's Licence and insured vehicle.
