**Position Information**:
At Blacktown Girls High School students are empowered to learn to their fullest potential in an environment in which everyone is known, valued and respected. The community shares a commitment to continuous improvement and our students have a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, deep content knowledge and are empowered to meet current and future challenges. Our students develop social awareness, civic responsibility, and personal growth to become informed citizens in a rapidly changing global community. The school has an enrolment of 1005 students, made up of 2.3% Aboriginal students and 89% of students from a language background other than English. Equity programs to support students from a Language Background Other Than English and Aboriginal students are delivered by staff and outside agencies. We have also fostered strong partnerships with universities, businesses and community groups and have established strong industry partnerships.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated capacity to develop student wellbeing initiatives and implement procedures to identify and support students with a wide range of wellbeing and learning needs within the context of a partially selective girls' high school.

2. Strong leadership skills to develop and maintain a culture of advocacy and belonging both within the school and across the wider community.

3. Highly developed capacity to work closely with external agencies, staff, parents/carers, and the wider community to support and case manage students with a diverse range of wellbeing needs including at times of crisis.

4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a dynamic member of the executive team, as well as with whole school staff to identify and lead initiatives that address school strategic directions.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
