Job summary
Amazon's Australian Operations network delivers millions of packages and smiles to Amazon customers every year. We are looking for people who are passionate about community engagement to join our team and spread those smiles to our community as a Community Connections Leader.
In this role, you will assist in making meaningful connections between Amazon's operations facilities including our Fulfilment Centres (FC) and Delivery stations, the surrounding communities, the associates we employ, and the customers we serve.
Reporting in to an FC General Manager or Lead, this position will serve as a primary point of contact to streamline community engagement coordination with Public Relations, Public Policy, Operations Internal Communications and other community teams such as Amazon in the Community.
To be successful, this leader must be an excellent communicator with a proven ability to build relationships at all organisational levels, while earning and maintaining trust. This is a rotational role and will provide opportunity to influence thinking across multiple teams and businesses while interfacing with senior leaders in the community and within Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
- Understand the needs of specific sites, region, non-profit, and business organisations that exist in hyperlocal communities where Amazon operates.
- Create strategic plans and event calendars for each site/nodal area based on philanthropic participation, community engagement, affinity group activities, Human Resources/Employee Relations programs and other site events.
- Identify pertinent opportunities for hyperlocal community partnership and develop proactive outreach plans.
- Create effective communication campaigns which highlight employee involvement, inspire participation. Develop and cultivate multi-channel communication strategies to gain associate feedback, share knowledge, wins, insights to create a community feel between all partners.
- Leverage Community Engagement strategy mechanisms and provide feedback to strengthen future engagement. Champion accurate measuring of impact using standardized tools. Act as auditor of inspection to improve Amazon processes and activities that have direct community impact.
- Collaborate effectively with Amazon's Operations, Senior Leaders/Executives, Launch, Employee Relations, Public Relations, Media, Business Partner and other key stakeholder teams.
- Recommending new and different ways to increase brand awareness.
- Celebrating and promoting the organization's positive image through social media and local press campaigns.
- Collaborate with internal teams as new buildings are launched. Develop new launch community outreach campaigns and support onboarding new leadership into the region.
- This is an operations field-based rotational role and will reside in various operation buildings. Local, daily travel will be required as needed (up to 40%).
- A willingness to work in, and be a member of a physical operation, and to be based on site. Every member of our Operations team will work in our operations from time to time - this may require standing or walking for extended periods of time, and require the ability to safely lift and manipulate objects up to 15 kg in weight.
- Proven ability to identify, analyse and solve ambiguous problems to make business decisions using relevant data and insights
- Experience in multi-level communication and influence both verbally and in writing
- Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence and improve results laterally and remotely through cross-functional colleagues and project teams
- Experience with supply chain and logistics
- Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments
