**About the Opportunity**

Working within a multidisplinary team the Practice Leader is responsible to develop and implement best practice, evidence informed supports to improve the outcomes for children, young people, families and carers who are engaged in the early intervention and family preservation services. The Practice Leader will work closely with early intervention and family preservation staff to ensure they provide culturally responsive case work and to ensure teams work in a culturally competent way with Aboriginal families. The Practice Leader will ensure that evidence-based approaches and systems that underpin work, are culturally informed and respectful of Aboriginal children, young people, families and carers.

**Essential Criteria**
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or related field
- A minimum of five years experience in the delivery of human services
- Relevant experience in leadership and/or consultation
- Demonstrated ability to use a culturally appropriate approach in implementing appropriate models of intervention, create opportunities, empower and promote the wellbeing of young people through engagement of families and carers
- Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic services that may be used by children, young people and their families such as CAMHS, Headspace, NDIS
- Strong interpersonal skills that provide the basis for effective negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution practices and outcomes
- A non-judgemental and empathetic approach to engaging and working with young people and their families
- Ability to develop rapport with carers, child/young people and their families/significant others and Community
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability; including records of children and young people and their families, team and organisational discussions
- The ability to effectively develop and maintain positive working relationships and networks with other Government and Non-Government agencies/services
- Demonstrated ability to participate positively in team work, training and supervision processes
- The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First aid & CPR certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
