
Depot Maintenance Manager

UGLs Manufacturing & Maintenance business are looking for a **Depot Maintenance Manager** to join our $2.3 billion New Intercity Fleet (NIF) project team based at our purpose-built maintenance facility in Kangy Angy on the NSW Central Coast. This role will be offered on a permanent contract.
The NIF project will oversee the replacement of trains carrying customers from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains and the South Coast. UGL will operate a new maintenance facility and provide maintenance and asset management services to the new fleet for 15 years.
**About the Role**
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role of the **Depot Maintenance Manager** is responsible for the management and leadership of the Service Delivery Managers at the Maintenance and Commissioning Facilities and the performance of the maintenance activities on the NIF Train while ensuring all work is performed in a timely, cost effective and safe manner while ensuring project objectives are achieved in terms of safety, environmental, availability, reliability, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction requirements on the NIF Project.
- Demonstrate leadership in safety, quality and environmental management, this position is responsible and accountable for supporting and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and for the adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace.
- Provision of leadership, direction, inspirational management, detailed activity plans and clear instruction to all team members, ensuring all individuals are working in accordance with rostered work schedules, agreed work instructions, quality and safety requirements.
- Ensure the train meets the availability and reliability requirements and work is competed in accordance with the scheduled train plan.
- Ensure the accurate raising of notifications, service orders and the closure of the service orders in the Asset Information System.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to drive a continuous improvement culture, introducing tools to help team members become self-sufficient in process improvement. Lead process improvement using Lean best practices to reduce all forms of waste in existing processes and establish process ownership
- Continually review the achieved KPIs against pre-determined performance indicators, implementing changes and adjustments as required to deal with contract/project variations, non-conformities, budget changes, customer requirements etc.
- Closely monitor the maintenance performance to ensure timely completion of the maintenance activities required to meet contractual milestones, avoiding penalties and other negative consequences, and maintaining customer faith and goodwill.
- Ensure compliance to the applicable Enterprise Agreement
- Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks directed by the Operations Manager
**About You**
- More than 10 years' relevant management and supervisory experience
- Proven experience in managing safety, quality and environmental aspects of an operation to the relevant legislation and contract requirements
- Experience in a production or maintenance operations environment
- Knowledge of business improvement techniques (for example, lean and 5S).
- Proven project management skills
- Experience and understanding of resource planning systems and procedures
- Sound understanding of budgetary, cost control and performance measurement activities
- Working knowledge and awareness of the rail industry and Rail Safety Act (desirable)
- A working knowledge of a quality control system
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
