The Adolescent and Young Adult counselling position is a permanent part time role of 32 hours a week. This role sits in a small Adolescent and Young Adult counselling team which is part of a dynamic and diverse paediatric service.
The AYA counsellor provides counselling support to young people 12 to 24 years of age presenting with a range of emotional and mental health needs and their families. The AYA clinician works with a young person and their family from the point of referral, providing assessment and intervention to assist the young person meet their goals.
**To be Successful in this Role you**
- will have a relevant tertiary qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, etc
- will have experience working therapeutically with adolescents and their families
- will have strong assessment skills including risk assessment
- will have an ability to engage effectively with young people
