About Headspace Townsville
headspace Townsville, under the leadership of their lead agency Stride, delivers high quality evidence-based clinical care to achieve better health outcomes for young people aged 12–25 years. Our multidisciplinary team supports young people in the Townsville region by providing support for mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drug use, and getting into work and study.
headspace Townsville offers a number of evidence-based mental health and wellbeing treatments ranging from low-intensity brief interventions through to high-intensity long-term interventions. These include:
One-At-A-Time supports when young people may only be needing a few sessions with a clinician to work on current stressors or concerns.
Moderate intensity medium-term individual and group therapy when young people may need a few more sessions to work on specific concerns such as anxiety, depression or other mental health difficulties.
A dedicated suicide prevention program (You Are Not Alone – YANA) that provides time-limited high intensity interventions for young people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
A dedicated trauma program (Tern) that provides recovery focused long-term high intensity interventions for young people who have experienced multiple traumas throughout their lives.
Role Overview
The headspace Youth Access Team is comprised of Intake Clinicians who act as the first point of contact for young people accessing the headspace service and play a significant role in their continued engagement. This role provides high quality assessments as well as evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person. This includes a variety of modalities ranging from brief interventions through to longer-term care for young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
As An Intake Clinician, You Will
Provide comprehensive mental health assessment, case management, intervention or group work as required
Provide evidence-based low intensity and moderate intensity mental health interventions to young people aged 12–25
Liaise with Senior Clinicians to monitor and manage client pathways, support referral triage and support transitions to other services within the community
Participate in the provision of appropriate mental health education programs for health professionals, community-based services and community groups as required
Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that continually improve client care and enhance the delivery of services within a multidisciplinary team and the service.

Fixed-term full-time and part-time opportunities available until 2027 with the opportunity to extend subject to extended funding
Paying on HPSS Level 3.1 – 3.2 plus Super
Leave loading at 17.5%

Requirements
Must have one of the following: General or Provisional AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nurse OR Social Worker with AASW registration/eligibility OR Counsellor with Level 3 ACA registration or PACFA equivalent.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill to undertake routine clinical practice with a superior understanding within the continuum of care.
Ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team utilising high level communication skills to establish effective partnerships and provide consultation to the team as well as government and other non-government service providers.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to the professional development of self and others through education, professional networking and application of evidence-based practice
Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
