We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Estimation to join our team in Sydney, Australia.
Job Description
The Director of Estimation will be responsible for leading the estimation process for construction projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with project goals. This role involves developing detailed cost estimates from conceptual estimating through to first principles covering materials, labour, equipment, and overheads using industry-standard tools and first principles pricing.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a lead/director-level role with estimating within transmission, mining, oil & gas, clean energy, or broader natural resources sectors. They will also have strong technical proficiency in Candy, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Navisworks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end estimation process for construction projects
Develop detailed cost estimates from conceptual estimating through to first principles
Drive a common way of working across teams, including consistent capture of data to drive decision making
Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather accurate pricing and scope data
Maintain and enhance the central estimating database and norms, while staying current with market trends and cost factors
Requirements
Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, architecture, or quantity surveying
At least 10 years of experience in estimation and project management
Strong technical knowledge of estimation software and systems
Excellent communication and leadership skills
