About You

We are seeking a detail oriented and pro-active individual to join our Student Financials team as a Coordinator. The Coordinator is responsible for providing a high level of service and expertise regarding a range of processes and tasks pertaining to the administration of higher education and vocational education student financial operations, in line with University policy, legislative and government reporting requirements. Primary responsibilities include provision of expert advice to stakeholders regarding student financials processes; issue resolution; management of removal of debt and cancellation for non-payment processes, student financial records corrections. The incumbent will also be responsible for the development of a range of process improvements, documentation, and training to cover new and existing processes, procedures and practices for these areas.

The position will participate in joint coordination of day to day activities to ensure a high standard of Student Financials operations is delivered, providing leadership and supervision of staff within the Student Financials team as and when required.

The Coordinator will provide support and advice to the Manager, Student Financials, the Associate Director, Enrolment and Student Records as well as other senior RMIT staff.

Occasional evening and weekend work and restrictions on annual leave may be necessary during peak periods.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

- Demonstrated experience and expertise in the provision of quality student administration advice and services, including a sound knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply, relevant policies, procedures.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including ability to tailor communication styles to diverse audiences and respond appropriately to sensitive information and situations.
- Proven initiative and problem solving skills and ability to work independently to quickly extract the priority issues and take action without specific direction where appropriate and ability to advise management of potential for policy and process improvement.
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a collegiate manner with all staff through building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the University.
- Experience in a leadership role, with excellent organisational and time management skills and a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and re-adjust workload priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.

**Qualifications**:
Degree in relevant discipline and/or significant experience required.

Experience within the tertiary sector and with Administrative Systems.

About the Portfolio

The Education Portfolio is led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice-President who is responsible for planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.

The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The Academic Registrar's Group (ARG) is responsible for a range of activities underpinning the student lifecycle from enrolment though to graduation. The ARG operating environment is highly complex in view of more than 82,000 student enrolments across the University in both vocational and higher education programs at campuses in Melbourne, Europe and Vietnam, as well as at several offshore locations in conjunction with educational and industry partners.

RMIT has one of the highest numbers of international student enrolments within Australian universities; consequently, compliance requirements are significant with State and Federal legislation imposing numerous and frequently revised regulatory obligations.

The ARG has a staff establishment of around 140 EFT in Australia and Vietnam, and an operating budget in excess of $20 million.
