We offer a safe and inclusive work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives and where the capability of our people is key to our success.About The RoleBased on site at Mt Arthur South the Senior Finance Administrator will be responsible for providing strong administrative support to the finance, purchasing and contracts functions, whilst accounting for costs, doing basic reconciliations and mentoring as well as role coverage for finance and maintenance administrators.Additionally, you will :Work within the Finance and Administration (F&A) team to ensure that targets are achieved across the project.Post cost accruals and complete cost variance analysis to the budget / forecast with support of the Senior Accountant.Collate information for submission of FBT returns.Utilise excel to review costs and provide information to key stakeholders on spend and trends on request.Coordinate various month end activities / processes.Analyse daily profit / loss reports for commentary to key stakeholders.Reallocation of costs where required (ie. recodes and reallocating payroll and general cost clearing accounts)Assist and support with forecasting / budgeting and reconciliations where required.Understand and apply relevant company policies and procedures.Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the Accounts Payable (AP) workflow process and administrative tasks relating to procurement and purchasing.Use initiative to look for better ways to meet and improve finance and AP workflow tasks.About YouYou will have ideally completed a Cert III or IV in Business Administration and have experience working in a mining or heavy industry environment with exposure to accounting / finance tasks.
Or, you are an up and coming accountant with some mining or heavy industry experience that has commenced study (or looking to study) and looking for a pathway through to a mine / management accountant role.
Key requirements include :Having JDE experience or experience with similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) packages (or proven ability to be able to quickly adopt computer programs and software)Be proficient in MS Office, particularly ExcelHave experience with Accounts Payable, Receivable, Payment Claims, and procure to purchase processes (ie. raising requisitions, amending PO's, application of GST etc)Have well-developed written and oral communication skills in order to :Build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholdersBe able to communicate when there are variances or corrections required to claims / invoices, basic accounting processes and reconciliationsAdapt and adopt different communication methods as / when requiredDrive to increase performance, work collaboratively and manage relationshipsWell-developed problem-solving skills, whilst also being able to identify and appropriately communicate when issues need escalationWhat Thiess Can Do for YouHelp to grow your career, offering diverse and varied opportunities for advancementFlexible working arrangementsWorld-class health & wellbeing programsMonthly RDOSalary sacrifice optionsA range of corporate discounts, including health insurance (Medibank), travel & retail productsAbout UsAt Thiess, we partner with our clients to deliver excellence in open cut and underground mining in Australia, Asia and the Americas.
