Job Title:
Senior Principal Project Engineer
The role of a Senior Principal Project Engineer is pivotal in driving the successful delivery of projects. This position requires high-level engineering and problem-solving skills, as well as broad industry experience and deep subject matter expertise in key SCADA applications.
The Senior Principal Engineer plays a crucial role in setting the direction for effective delivery of major applications and components. By providing subject matter expertise and collaborating with other subject matter experts globally, this role ensures that deep product knowledge is available to and applied effectively in regional project planning and execution.
This position collaborates with Project Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, and Project Management teams to identify and resolve complex project challenges. The Senior Principal Project Engineer also communicates complex concepts, problems, and solutions effectively to customers and engineers across functions.
Lead collaboration across Project Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, and Project Management to diagnose and solve complex project and product issues.
Maintain effective global relationships amongst SMEs responsible for key products and disciplines.
Provide local subject matter expertise, and/or facilitate the provision of such expertise from global experts as needed.
Contribute to the coaching and development of junior engineers across the department.
Provide detailed analysis if project and product issues.
Devise elegant and efficient solutions to complex problems impacting project success.
Contribute to work estimates through the application of specialized knowledge and experience.
Develop and maintain broad knowledge of energy markets and customer drivers.
Stay up to date with industry standards and trends.
This position requires a Bachelor's level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred. Additionally, at least 12 years of specialized applied knowledge of one or more SCADA applications, including EMS, ADMS, and/or GMS are required.
Broad knowledge of Project Engineering and Power Systems Engineering disciplines is necessary. In-depth knowledge of practical application of SCADA and associated applications is also required. Experience operating, maintaining, delivering, and/or supporting complex SCADA installations is essential. Familiarity with energy markets and corresponding customer regulatory and technical drivers is necessary. Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving complex issues is also required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Effectively managing time and context switching between multiple competing tasks effectively is also required.
