This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, however there will be occasional travel (on the road) with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

We are seeking a dynamic Trade and Compliance Specialist to enhance our import/export operations and maintain our high standards of compliance.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Coordinate Trade Activities**:

- Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, agents, and transport providers to ensure timely and efficient shipments.
- Drive best practices and continuous improvement in our import/export processes.
- Oversee international logistics from suppliers to warehouse receipt.
- Maintain precise records for import/export transactions, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, permits, licenses, customs declarations, and compliance reports.
- Engage with governmental bodies for product classifications, certifications, and trade reporting.
- Negotiate and secure competitive rates with brokers and other agents.

**Regulatory Compliance**:

- Provide expert guidance on compliance requirements, documentation, and procedures.
- Stay current with evolving regulations, tariffs, and sanctions.
- Ensure all import/export activities comply with applicable laws, minimizing risks of delays, fines, and penalties.
- Develop and implement compliance programs, including policies, procedures, and training.
- Liaise with the TGA, Office of Drug Control, and the Australian Border Force.

**Risk Assessments**:

- Assess and mitigate risks related to import/export activities.
- Identify potential compliance gaps and recommend strategies to address them.

**Managing Audits and Investigations**:

- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to trade laws.
- Support external audits and work promptly to rectify any compliance issues.

**Qualifications**
- 4+ years of experience working with Imports and exports, Pharmaceutical space, raw material - natural products and or commodities.
- Bachelor's degree in business, law or related field.
- Previous experience in import/export, legal or regulatory compliance environment is essential.
- Understanding of trade regulations, tariffs and sanctions.
- Understanding the Medical Cannabis industry would be advantageous.
- Current Satisfactory Police Check.
