Ampol Petroleum Distributors (APD) are 100% owned by Ampol and operate in Qld, NSW and southern WA servicing our customers and the communities we operate in.
About the role: You will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of assets across the Ampol Petroleum Distributors fleet & equipment, predominately heavy vehicles (such as tanker trucks) and additionally light commercial vehicles, materials handling equipment and portable fuel storage tanks.
You will lead the analysis and execution of initiatives across the entire asset lifecycle from acquisition, operation and disposal whilst continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, optimise commercial outcomes, and enhance overall asset performance.
Key responsibilities: Develop asset optimisation initiatives by working with frontline operations in identifying functional requirements, analyzing data for insights, and conducting external market research and competitor benchmarking.
Model asset scenarios to optimize type, configuration, quantity, and location in line with strategic business objectives.
Build vendor relationships in collaboration with Procurement, managing manufacturers, dealers, lease agents, and repairers.
Oversee logistics asset performance by ensuring alignment with strategy, assessing asset relocation/divestment, and generating regular reports and insights.
Ensure fleet maintenance effectiveness with independent oversight, preventative maintenance planning, and supplier performance management.
Lead change and capital programs, including heavy vehicle fleet replacement, maintenance tenders, in-truck compliance tech, and customer tank solutions, whilst driving continuous improvement initiatives.
About you: You are self-driven professional with proven experience in a comparable role.
Your strong analytical skills enable you to identify challenges and uncover opportunities through close collaboration with frontline operations.
Passionate about continuous improvement and commercial optimisation, you take a proactive approach to work and understand the importance of building strong stakeholder relationships.
Key skills and experience: Tertiary qualifications in Business, Logistics/Transport or Supply Chain field Experience in Supply chain / Operations management and Asset Management Experience in Heavy vehicle fleet management and sound knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Regulations Understanding of transport operations including safety and compliance requirements High level of analytical skills and strategic thinking Experience in Petroleum industry is desirable Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) Project/change management experience is desirable Flexible to travel Our benefits: Our total remuneration is competitive.
