Prime Catch Pty Ltd is seeking A Ships Officer for a Prawn Trawler operating out of Wollongong.

Newly fitted out deep water freezer boat, with the capacity to catch 577 Tonne of prawn annually.

A primary function of the role is to ensure the safe and secure operations and navigation of the Vessel as directed by the Skipper.

The Ships Officer is responsible for the vessels deck maintenance and the ships husbandry, ensuring these are compliant with Standard Operating Procedures. The Ships Officer will oversee the deck crew work practices, maintain standards and performance, and further assist crew with training and development
- Role includes both sea time and shore-based duties
- Must be willing to undergo regular drug and alcohol testing
- Remuneration package is $80,000 + accommodation on board the vessel.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2yrs Experience in prawn trawling and packing prawn for freezing essential
- Mate to Fishing Master in safe operations of the fishing vessel whilst

at sea.
- Assisting Fishing Master with maintenance of equipment and reporting of maintenance issues
- Operating and steering the fishing vessel
- Navigating vessel to the planned course
- Operate and maintain navigational and safety equipment and fishing gear
- Control and monitor fish handling activities on board vessel including overseeing and supervising deck crew in fishing operations
- Crew training
- Assisting Fishing Master with organising unloading of catch
- Assisting Fishing Master with monitoring supplies (bait, food stores, fuel, gear)
- Watch duties
- Net mending, wire splicing and seafood processing skills essential
- Handling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing

Assisting on deck with fishing operations including:

- Attaching gear and fastening towing cables to nets
- Hauling in fishing gear and removing fish and other marine life
- Sorting, cleaning, grading, preserving, stowing and freezing of Deepwater prawn

**Salary**: From $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
