**About the role**
APS5 Cyber Security Analyst (2 Vacancies)
**About the team - Cyber Operations Branch**
**Tenure**
The roles are full-time, non-ongoing/ongoing, non-ongoing contracts for up to 18 months.
**Location of role**
These roles are located in Greenway, Canberra, ACT
**What you will do
The Cyber Security Operations team is the first line of defence in the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC). They are responsible for monitoring, analysis, remediation and referral of suspicious or malicious cyber events impacting Services Australia and its shared service agencies. All Security Analysts are required to exercise independence, initiative and judgment in the assessment of cyber security events.
A Security Analyst is expected to complete complex tasks under limited direction against established priorities and procedures. Employees in this role are responsible for making decisions relating to detection and response of cyber events, based on technical knowledge, best practice, research and analysis. This role requires in-depth knowledge of cyber security fundamentals to accurately determine impact, relevance and urgency on cyber security incidents.
**As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will work as part of a multi-skilled team to**:
- Have accountability for tasks and decisions and supports less experienced employees in achieving their goals through the provision of guidance and quality assurance.
- Develop plans and objectives for short-term tasks of the work area and contribute to strategic planning for longer-term initiatives of the section.
- Identify problems or issues and resolve or establish treatments to mitigate.
- Contribute to the setting of the direction of work priorities and practices, monitoring work flow and identifying training needs for lower classification levels.
- Ensure knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.

- Obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering; Software Development; Information Technology; Systems Engineering; Computer Science; Network Security; Data and Analytics; Mathematics; Statistics; Engineering; Business; Software Development; Cyber Security or related disciplines or have relatable real-world experience in same or similar fields.
- A strong interest or experience in any of the following or related fields: Systems Testing, Applications Development, Data Analytics, Systems Analysis, Business Analysis, Systems Administration, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps, Networking, Engineering, Business, or in related disciplines
- Passion for cyber security, learning, and knowledge sharing
- Previous experience in governance & compliance or cyber security role would be desirable
