**Our Role**
This role is based at Graymont's limestone quarrying and production facility in Galong NSW. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist provides health, safety and environmental management in support of site quarrying and processing operations.
Occasional travel required.
**What you will do**:
- Facilitate and promote safety and environmental risk management, including the training of site personnel in the identification of hazards, assessing risk and implementation of controls.
- Assist site personnel to maintain housekeeping standards and ensure actions are taken to address identified issues.
- Coordinate workplace level HSE training to Graymont HSE Training Standards.
- Follow the latest PPE technology and ensure staff have access to appropriate PPE and are trained appropriately in its use and maintenance.
- Undertake investigative action, ensuring communication of findings and making recommendations to personnel in the implementation of corrective actions.
- Coordinate and participate in reviews of site safety and environmental management systems, process and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all company and statutory safety and environmental reporting requirements.
- Facilitate workplace injury management and workers compensation / recover at work programs.
- Assist with the management of employee surveillance requirements.
- Facilitate environmental monitoring programs, including the taking of samples and submission for analysis.
- Ensure all site environmental licenses and permits are maintained and renewed on time.
- Investigate and coordinate responses to stakeholder complaints and administrate any associated corrective action within required timeframes.
- Develop site level HSE documentation as required.
- Collaborate with specialist consultancies and stakeholders in the development and implementation of site rehabilitation.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including community meetings, sponsorships, and involvement in community initiatives and events.
- Support the plant manager to proactively engage with regulatory authorities, local and state governments, neighbours and other key stakeholders in line with Graymont values.
**What you will bring**:
- Experience in the functional safety of plant and equipment.
- Experience with contractor management.
- Experience with regulatory and environmental compliance management.
- Experience in incident investigation ( ICAM or similar).
- High level of competency in all aspects of safety and environmental risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to collate, analyse & interpret HSE data and use that data to inform decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Competent to consult and lead proactive, innovative HSE solutions to deliver best practice outcomes.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety/Environmental Management.
- Agility to adopt new workflows and prioritise competing demands.
- Sound judgment and ability to problem-solve, both alone and with peers.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal oversight.
- The right to work in Australia without restriction.
- Valid driver's license.
