**About the Victims of Community Crime Response (VoCCR) Service**
The Victims of Community Crime Response (VoCCR) pilot service focuses on addressing current gaps faced by victim-survivors needing immediate practical support after experiencing an interpersonal violent crime. Our aim is to provide efficient short-term crisis assistance, such as coordinating emergency transport and accommodation and addressing basic needs, such as food, clothing, home safety upgrades and more, within the first 72 hours of the incident. We also provide warm referrals for long-term support, which may involve legal, health, financial, and housing support.
**The role**
Response & Connection Practitioners provide immediate assistance to victims/survivors referred to VoCCR by the QPS (Queensland Police Service) after experiencing an act of interpersonal violence. This role will deliver immediate trauma-informed support in the form of answering or triaging inbound calls with compassion, providing psychological first aid and emotional support through traditional CBT interventions such as mindfulness and grounding techniques for callers presenting in acute distress, undertaking risk and needs assessments, safety planning and guiding service users through warm referral pathways. At times, at the request of the victim and in consultation with the Team Leader, Response and Connection Practitioners will travel to designated locations within the Logan, QLD area to offer in-person crisis support and, if required, coordinate essential practical needs such as emergency transport and accommodation, food, clothing, safety enhancements, and other forms of practical assistance.
