WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

**About the Team**

This role reports through to our Team Lead Logistics and works alongside two Logistics Officers. The Logistics team forms part of our greater Supply Chain team and works closely with our Projects, Finance, Warehouse and Trade Compliance teams as well. This role will be based at our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence in Redbank, Ipswich.

**About the Role**

The **Customs Officer** is responsible for day to day transactional classification of all international Import and Export of goods for RDA. The Customs Officer will also provide back-up for the Logistics and Customs Team Lead, and will provide support and guidance to the business in Export and Import Control, DSGL, ITAR and EAR matters.

- **Customs Officer,** you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

- Ensure all commodities are classified appropriately under the Australian Customs and related parties legislation and in adherence with the regulations;
- Provide expert advice in adherence with relevant Acts and Regulations;
- Assist the Trade Compliance team to provide advice andguidance to internal and external customers on trade compliance regulations, specifically ITAR/EAR procedures;
- Assist with the maintenance of the Export and Import Control Database and tracking system for management of licenses, agreements, correspondence and training;
- Develop and improve policies, processes and internal controls with respect to International Trade and related activities;
- Address export issues in existing programs and new business opportunities, provide assistance with investigations into any suspected breach of export controls regulations, and participate in internal export compliance audits of import / export activities.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

- Experienced with Schedule 3 Classification of Goods;
- Experienced in TCO, TA, Tradex, Anti-Dumping Taxes;
- Experience in classifying products under relevant legislation;
- Knowledge of global trade laws and regulations (i.e. US Export Control Regulations (ITAR & EAR), Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations, and Defence Trade Controls Act);
- Knowledge and experience of Australian Export Controls laws associated with Defence Strategic Goods List materials;
- Ability to travel interstate when required; and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
