
Database Systems Lead

Our Group IT team is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Database Systems Lead to join us at our Head Office in Victoria Park, reporting to the Team Leader – Group Business Systems.
This role is ideal for a professional, adaptable and forward-thinking individual.
You will be responsible for implementing, configuring, maintaining and optimising critical database systems to ensure performance, security and reliability.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.Working with Monadelphous offers many benefits, some of which include:Permanent full-timeBased in Victoria ParkHands-on positionKey Responsibilities:Resolve Challenges: Identify, analyse, and resolve technical issues swiftly, collaborating with cross-functional experts to ensure seamless operations and minimize downtime.Ensure Compliance and Excellence: Oversee operations to ensure compliance with governance guidelines and adherence to industry best practices, maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.Partner with Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with stakeholders to deeply understand business needs and deliver impactful solutions that drive real value and enhance performance.Provide Guidance: Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert insights and strategic direction to team members, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.Innovate and Transform: Develop and implement creative solutions to optimise systems and processes, enabling the business to achieve its strategic objectives more effectively.Drive Improvement: Lead initiatives that drive technological advancements and process improvements, enhancing overall business functionality, efficiency, and compliance.What you'll bring:Proven Database Expertise: Significant hands-on experience managing and optimising enterprise-scale databases, with exposure to multiple technologies including relational (modern and legacy), modern data platforms and cloud-native solutions.Database Optimisation & Reliability: Practical knowledge of performance tuning, backup/restore processes, and designing high-availability/disaster-recovery solutions.Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues involving software, hardware, network and database components.Customer & Stakeholder Focus: Ability to build relationships, explain technical matters to non-technical audiences, and deliver solutions that provide business value.Communication & Organisation: Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.Adaptability & Improvement Mindset: Willingness to embrace change, learn new technologies and drive continuous improvement.Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions for on-premises and cloud databases (e.g. Oracle RMAN, Cassandra, Microsoft SQL).
