We are currently looking for a passionate and encouraging team player to join our Human Resources Team as the Human Resources Manager.

Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) exists to save lives, create great Australians, and build better communities. As one of Australia's most respected community organisations and a world leader in lifesaving, coastal public safety, rescue, and education services, SLSA provides many ways to get involved as a volunteer or employee.

With over 180,000 members and 315 affiliated Surf Life Saving Clubs, we represent the largest volunteer movement of its kind in Australia, and the world.

SLSA encompasses coastal safety, elite sports teams, public relations, partnerships & national fundraising. We rely heavily on the support of the community to continue to provide this vital service that help keep our beaches safe and protect our Australian way of life.

We are currently looking for a passionate and encouraging team player to join our Human Resources Team as the Human Resources Manager.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the HR manager has strong understanding of industrial relations, work health and safety, enhancing culture, learning and development and holds a keen eye for recruitment. As a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, this role enables you to deliver support to managers and the wider organisation, through actively coaching them through performance management, workplace investigations and providing guidance on all people-related matters.

**Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and with two direct reports, you will be required to**:
**Planning and reporting**
- Provide people focused input into the development of SLSA annual operational and strategic plans and budgets.
- Oversee the SLSA people strategy with particular focus on the SLSA values and behaviours
- Manage HR Reporting requirements to meet SLSA Management and Board requirements including trend analyses of staff statistics and survey results.

**Human Resource Management compliance**
- Ensure the SLSA's human resource management and workplace relations practices, policies, processes and procedures are developed and maintained in compliance with current relevant Federal and State legislation
- Oversee investigations, disciplinary and internal grievance matters including national member grievances.
- Oversee the maintenance of staff files and records including remuneration, leave, training and development, certifications.

**Leadership and Management**
- Provide advice and support to managers with all HR lifecycle requirements including recruitment and selection, induction, employee engagement, performance management, training and development, career development, succession planning, management of underperformance and exit interviews and transition.
- Conduct the regular staff engagement survey and implement strategies to improve employee engagement and culture, including social engagement strategies.
- Conduct performance management processes for direct reports and oversee all performance management requirements for SLSA.
- Implement Peer Support and Employee Assistance Program requirements internally and for the membership as and when required.
- As requested, provide Human Resource guidance and support to SLS State Centre personnel.
- Oversee internal communications strategies to inform, engage and bring together employees in a multisite environment.
- When required, represents SLSA to external parties including government, legal and human resources advisors and consultants

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant experience in the areas of human resource management
- Member of AHRI (Desired)
- Proven experience of developing and implementing people strategies that have brought about positive results
- Senior management experience including the management of a business unit in a not for profit volunteer environment
- Experience of managing the oversight of the end to end HR Lifecycle, including completing day to day administrative requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of human resource and compliance with current legal, political, and industrial relations framework and requirements for managing people in large multisite not for profit organisations
- Experience in developing and managing budgets, project expenditure and delivering organisational outcomes
- Comprehensive knowledge of governance best practices and requirements and proven experience in developing and managing organisational policy frameworks
- Comprehensive understanding of change management principles and proven experience in leading change
- Experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams) and ELMO HR and Payroll(Desired)
