**About us**
In Australia, we take the milk we collect from our farmers, and our eight manufacturing sites across Victoria and Tasmania and turn this into dairy foods that generations of Australians have grown up with and love, including Perfect Italiano, Mainland, Western Star, and Bega. We also sell dairy ingredients to many of the world's leading food companies and partner with foodservices business across the country to get dairy foods into chef's hands.
**Your purpose**
As the Farm Performance Manager, you will be responsible for developing programs tailored to the Australian agricultural landscape, ensuring they meet current regulations and align with Fonterra's sustainability goals. This role plays a vital part in supporting our farmer suppliers by offering expert advice on improving production efficiency, exploring alternative agricultural methods, and minimizing environmental impact. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop programs, as part of Fonterra's Service Offer, such as Farm Environment Plans and Insights Reports specifically designed for the Australian operating context and aligned with Fonterra's commitment to sustainability and environment
- Generate Insights Reports from farm data and analyse greenhouse gas emissions and identify mitigation strategies to reduce scope 3 emissions
- Provide technical expertise in environmental areas such as greenhouse gas emissions, nutrient management, nitrogen use, and biodiversity
- Collaborate with the regional teams to support the implementation of environmental management systems on farms
- Work with Fonterra farmer suppliers and broader team to identify opportunities for assisting farmer suppliers in achieving best practice in waste management, irrigation management, soil management, use of fertilisers and effluent management
- Upskill the team, ensuring consistency and added value to farmer suppliers
- Represent Fonterra in industry forums and ensure the transfer of knowledge to farmers and the broader agricultural community
- Maintain currency of knowledge and technical expertise to ensure Fonterra is aware of emerging issues and stay ahead of and in accordance with regulations and legislative requirements
**About You**:
You are passionate about sustainable farming and have a deep understanding of farm systems and environmental management. You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, capable of building strong relationships with your team, farmer suppliers and industry stakeholders. Your experience in developing and implementing sustainability programs on farms equips you to drive meaningful improvements in farm performance. You can also demonstrate:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (Level 8 Education)
- At least 5 years of experience in farm systems, with a focus on sustainability and performance improvement and carbon zero farming
- A minimum of 2 years of project management and people management experience
- Proven expertise in greenhouse gas emissions calculation and mitigation strategies
- Strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of farm environmental management systems
