Job Title: Farm Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Farm Operations Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for farming and a strong background in poultry production.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a 3-shed farm, which houses over 30,000 birds. They will lead a dedicated team and take full responsibility for the birds' care and the farm's daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversight of daily farm operations and staff management to ensure production standards are met
• Husbandry management of the flock, ensuring all livestock is treated humanely and in compliance with minimum standard procedures
• Mortality checks and management of vaccinations of the flock
• Leadership, coaching, and development of the team to ensure they meet performance goals
• Driving a strong safety culture and corrective and preventative safety programs
• Oversight of all farm maintenance work and engagement with contractors for repairs as required
• Identification, implementation, and embedding of continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programs
• Ensuring quarantine requirements are implemented and biosecurity measures adhered to
• Collection and collation of data for research and animal husbandry purposes
• Advising producers on farming techniques and management and production processes
• Arranging the supply of medications, vaccines, and other chemicals to farmers and farm managers, and providing advice on their use
• Operation and maintenance of technological systems and equipment used in farm production, including analysis of data and preparation of reports
• Operation and maintenance of animal health and feed monitoring equipment
• Providing advice on breeding selection and techniques
• Examination and consideration of environmental and other factors that influence the growth, health, and production of livestock

Requirements:

• Previous hands-on experience in a similar farming operations role in the poultry industry or similar
• Experience in leading, coaching, and motivating a team
• A good understanding of modern breeder farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare, and an interest in and understanding of the ways in which farming impacts the environment
• Ability to work outside in all weathers and undertake hand-on jobs as well as attending to office duties
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft suite
• High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work demands and meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrated understanding and exposure to both biosecurity and animal welfare principles
