AMAH has a mental health service and planning responsibility for residents of inner south-eastern metropolitan Melbourne. We care for people with severe and complex mental illness and psychological distress seeking specialist mental health & addiction treatment, care, and support. We are committed to implementing the reform agenda established by the Victorian government following the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.

**About the Role**

This is an exciting opportunity for a person with lived experience of supporting someone through mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery to use their lived expertise to contribute to change within the delivery of mental health services and be involved in the leadership influencing the design and delivery of a new and innovative service model for women.

The role will be an important component of the multidisciplinary leadership of the centre working in partnership with the Carer Consultant, Director and Nurse Unit Manager.
- ** Educate** - lead and co-produce the orientation and training of staff in the SWMH Centre to ensure an understanding of the value and contribution of the Carer Lived Experience workforce.
- ** Engage **with the organisations involved in this service to better understand the uniqueness and value of the Carer Lived Experience workforce.
- ** Establish **- support carer participation, representation and feedback including the development of outcome measures that can guide research and understanding of how the Carer Lived Experience workforce influences the delivery of care and outcomes for individuals utilising the service to improve the safety and quality of service provision.
- ** Assist **with recruitment and to ensure that there are appropriate supports for the Carer Lived Experience workforce within the Centre including provision of discipline specific supervision, mentoring and leadership.

The SWMHU is an innovative project being developed in response to the Royal Commission recommendations for partnerships between the public and private sector, and the need for gender segregation and sexually safe units.

We recognise that women experiencing mental ill-health have specific needs that differ from their male counterparts that require tailored treatment and support.

Our 30-bed facility located at Albert Road Clinic Hub will be run in partnership with Ramsay Health, Alfred Health.

The unit will provide a state-wide comprehensive specialist service for women and those who identify as women experiencing severe mental ill-health and trauma. Our care will be trauma informed and wellness focused.

- ensuring patients are treated with dignity and are provided with holistic support to enable their full and effective participation in society;
- committing to the integration of peer workers into the MDT;
- recognising and supporting the contribution of families, carers, and supporters;
- delivering treatment, care and support that is comprehensive, integrated, high quality, and informed by research, evaluation, and innovation;
- supporting the needs of the workforce, in particular registrars, through teaching and supervision;
- working collaboratively with service users, service providers and with external partners including IMHA, the MHCC, and the soon-to-be-established Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission.

**About You**
- Have obtained or are willing to work to obtain within 12 months
- Certificate IV in Peer Work or Certificate IV in Mental Health; or
- Intentional Peer Support (IPS) 5 day and/or advanced training.
- Must have experience working as a consumer consultant providing input into clinical governance meetings, supervision and mentoring of the consumer peer workforce and delivery of education and training.
