An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Subcontract Specialist to join Service Stream in our Utilities team based in Port Melbourne.
About the Role

Service Stream's Utilities - Energy Sector team are currently seeking a Subcontract Specialist to join our growing company.

Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time

Location: Port Melbourne

Reporting Line: Project Controls Manager

As a valued member of the Project Management Office, the role will work with project delivery and tender teams to develop and implement robust procurement management plans, support category management frameworks and develop strategic sourcing approaches as well as negotiate best practice subcontracts. You will also identify and manage subcontracting risks and opportunities and collaborate with the project and commercial teams to support the on-time and on-budget delivery of projects for Service Stream and its clients.

Key Responsibilities:

- The Subcontracts Specialist will seek value for money, develop supplier relationships and management the performance of suppliers while offering advice on subcontract activities.
- In addition, the role will provide effective governance, advice and guidance to colleagues regarding Service Stream procurement practices and provide counsel and advice on procurement strategy to establish best commercial outcomes for Service Stream
- The role of the Subcontracts Specialist will include continuous improvement activities to drive procurement and supply chain maturity based on industry best practice.
- Help drive continuous improvement across the Subcontracting team as it develops
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement strategies for managing subcontract issues associated with procurement
- Develop and negotiate risk balanced and commercially astute subcontracts across the Energy Sector

About You

To be successful in this role, you will also demonstrate and possess the following:

- Relevant degree or qualifications in law, business, engineering, quantity surveying, supply chain, procurement or project management
- Sound experience in complex subcontracting and procurement environments
- Sound experience and knowledge of subcontracting commercial instruments and their negotiation
- Transferable experience in engineering, defence, power generation, oil and gas, mining or utilities industries
- Very strong background in working effectively in team environments
- Exceptional communication skills: written (including demonstrated subcontracting writing expertise), verbal and acilitation / presentation skills. Strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships from management to graduates, and with external stakeholders.
- Proficient skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel and PowerPoint), SAP (or similar ERP) and material requisition system/s
- Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines.
