
Health Surveillance Unit Manager

In this role, you will provide leadership to Team Leaders across functions including data processing, systems implementation and management, stakeholder engagement and support and data surveillance and analysis.You will provide policy, program and coordination support to the Director to shape HSU's input to whole-of-agency, whole-of-government and national frameworks related to occupational disease prevention, detection and support.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide timely, accurate and expert advice to the Director HSU on the status of, and risks to, HSU's key business deliverables and projects.
- Provide practical and strategic support and leadership to the Team Leaders to ensure HSU's priorities are delivered on time and as required; and to instil a workplace culture that reflects RSHQ's values.
- Develop and continually maintain a detailed understanding of the legislative and policy framework that underpins health surveillance for mine and quarry workers in Queensland, and of the corresponding requirements for stakeholders (workers, employers and doctors).
- Prepare complex, detailed and accurate correspondence including briefing notes, reports, submissions and written responses to stakeholders on a wide range of policy and operational topics.
- Build and maintain relationships with RSHQ's key external stakeholders, including the medical sector and mining employers, to support delivery of business priorities - in particular, transition to the electronic health records management solution, ResHealth.
- Attend and present at a range of forums on behalf of RSHQ.
- Build and maintain relationships within RSHQ (e.g. Health Strategy and Compliance Unit, RSHQ Corporate; Mines Inspectorates) and within the Queensland Government (e.g. Queensland Health; Office of Industrial Relations; WorkCover Queensland) to progress OH's business strategies, projects and activities.
- Oversee the development and improvement of an integrated framework of work instructions, policies, procedures and business systems by HSU Team Leaders, as the foundation of HSU's operational success.
- Coordinate HSU's input to OH's operational business planning, annual budget preparation and workforce/HR planning, being cognisant of HSU's current and emerging challenges and opportunities.
