**About the Opportunity**

Metcash is on the lookout for an experienced and driven **Inventory Operations Manager** to lead inventory operations at our **Truganina, VIC**Distribution Centre. Reporting directly to the State Logistics Manager, you'll play a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy, optimising warehouse performance, and aligning local operations with national supply chain strategy.

In this role, you'll take ownership of product slotting, pick path optimisation, and warehouse space utilisation. Using data-led insights and regular performance reviews, you'll drive operational improvements that ensure our DC remains safe, compliant, and highly efficient.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including DC operations, supply chain, and procurement to implement best practices and address state-specific challenges. From onboarding new product lines to managing the exit of slow-moving stock, your expertise will help streamline processes and maximise space and efficiency.

Your success will be defined by your ability to lead and develop teams, deliver against strategic goals, and contribute to the continuous improvement of national inventory systems and processes.

**In this Role**
- Ensure accurate allocation of products to pick slots based on handling characteristics, sales trends, and operational efficiency; regularly review and adjust slot types, locations, and picking paths
- Manage the introduction of new product lines and the exit of obsolete or slow-moving items to maintain safe and efficient warehouse operations
- Track pick slot capacity and utilization, conducting regular health checks and identifying areas for improvement
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve warehouse layout, pick slot configurations, and product handling practices
- Develop and lead structured cycles for reviewing and enhancing pick paths and slotting to align with broader operational strategies
- Oversee cycle counting processes, ensure audit compliance, and identify opportunities to improve inventory reporting and data integrity
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to implement best practices and address regional challenges
- Support training, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives to build team capabilities and align with national inventory management goals
- Overseeing the inventory functions across the entire site, with direct responsibility for managing the inventory teams within the Ambient, Perishable, and ALM warehouses
