About the role Australia's fleet relies on advanced combat systems to stay mission-ready.
As a Senior Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin Australia, you'll be at the forefront of upgrading and modernising the Hobart Class Combat System — ensuring our Navy remains one step ahead.
Based at Garden Island, you'll join a collaborative Combat System Engineering team working on programs that directly impact Australia's defence strategy.
What you'll do Partner with the Royal Australian Navy to guide and deliver combat system upgrades.
Lead and support engineering change activities that improve system performance and reliability.
Translate complex requirements into practical, forward-looking design solutions.
Collaborate with global experts and Defence partners to tackle high-impact technical challenges.
Play a key role in test, integration, and operational validation of combat system updates.

What you'll bring A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or related engineering.
Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, test, integration).
Strong stakeholder engagement skills — able to connect technical detail with strategic outcomes.
Knowledge of modern systems engineering practices (MBSE, Agile).
Experience with naval, combat, or complex military systems is highly regarded.
An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.
Work on flagship naval programs with long-term national significance.
Collaborate with some of the brightest engineers and Defence specialists in the field.
