As a Senior Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin Australia, you'll be at the forefront of upgrading and modernising the Hobart Class Combat System — ensuring our Navy remains one step ahead.Based at Garden Island, you'll join a collaborative Combat System Engineering team working on programs that directly impact Australia's defence strategy.What you'll doPartner with the Royal Australian Navy to guide and deliver combat system upgrades.Lead and support engineering change activities that improve system performance and reliability.Translate complex requirements into practical, forward-looking design solutions.Collaborate with global experts and Defence partners to tackle high-impact technical challenges.Play a key role in test, integration, and operational validation of combat system updates.Why this role mattersEvery change you engineer enhances Australia's maritime edge — ensuring our people at sea have the tools and confidence to succeed in mission-critical operations.
About you:What you'll bringA degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or related engineering.Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, test, integration).
Strong stakeholder engagement skills — able to connect technical detail with strategic outcomes.Knowledge of modern systems engineering practices (MBSE, Agile).
Experience with naval, combat, or complex military systems is highly regarded.An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.Why join us?
