A leading IT services provider is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to deliver Microsoft 365 and Azure solutions with a strong focus on security, scalability, and best practice implementation. This hybrid role is based in Sydney and combines technical leadership with direct project delivery, providing the opportunity to work on complex engagements and mentor junior engineers.

  • $100K – $120K base + superannuation
  • Hybrid role: 4 days in office, 1 day from home
  • Design and deploy Microsoft 365 and Azure solutions aligned to client objectives.
  • Act as technical lead across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Focus on security controls, governance, and operational standards.
  • Create technical design documentation, scope, and business case input.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead solution assessments, design, and deployment activities for Microsoft 365 and Azure projects. Responsibilities include developing solution design documents, selecting appropriate technologies, overseeing implementation, and monitoring performance. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to align IT outcomes with business objectives, resolve technical issues, and deliver projects to best practice standards. The role also involves mentoring engineers, supporting governance frameworks, and contributing to ongoing improvements in engineering practices.

WE NEED YOU TO HAVE…..

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline

  • 8+ years of IT experience, with 4+ years in a senior engineering role

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms

  • Certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, and security-focused disciplines

  • Proven experience designing cloud-native infrastructure

  • Understanding of ITIL, security frameworks, and DevOps practices

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

IT'S NICE TO HAVE….

  • Microsoft Certified

  • AWS Certified

  • VMware Certified

  • Knowledge of SAN, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions

  • Strong understanding of Windows systems and internet protocols
