A leading global Independent Power Producer is seeking a
Power Systems Engineer
and a
Senior Power Systems Engineer
to join its Brisbane-based team. This company develops, owns, and operates utility-scale renewable energy projects and is expanding its technical team to support ongoing growth in the Australian market.

About the Role

These roles are focused on supporting the grid connection of renewable energy assets, including wind, solar and battery energy storage systems. You will be responsible for developing and managing PSCAD and PSSE models for Generator Performance Standards (GPS) submissions, including R0 and R1 stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate and maintain PSCAD and PSSE models for generation projects
  • Support GPS submissions and connection applications (R0/R1) in compliance with AEMO and NSP requirements
  • Perform power system studies, including load flow, fault level and dynamic simulations
  • Liaise with AEMO, TNSPs, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide technical support from early-stage development through to commissioning
  • For the Senior role: lead technical engagements, review modelling work, and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

Power Systems Engineer:

  • 2–5 years of experience in power system modelling or grid connection
  • Proficiency in PSCAD and PSSE
  • Understanding of the NEM, GPS process and AEMO requirements
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills

Senior Power Systems Engineer:

  • 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering with a focus on grid connection
  • In-depth experience delivering R0 and R1 submissions
  • Advanced modelling skills using PSCAD and PSSE, including scripting and automation
  • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities
