As the Ranger-in-Charge for South Cooloola, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the southern Cooloola section of the Great Sandy National Park including the Great Sandy Visitor Information Centre. This position supervises up to 15 staff and liaises closely with the RIC north Cooloola to deliver on ground operations programs across Cooloola. The position reports to the Senior Ranger, Cooloola. Rangers may work across five focus areas dependent on operational need, including Pest Management, Fire Management, Estate Management, Visitor Management and Assets and Safety. This is a high visitation park which has a strong focus on compliance and visitor management. Most staff in South Cooloola work a fortnightly roster arrangement of nine days on, five days off and rangers will be rostered on to work every second weekend. Normally the Ranger In Charge will work a Monday to Friday roster, however at times the Ranger In Charge will be expected to work on weekends and Public Holidays, particularly during high visitation periods, and changes to standard rosters will be negotiated as necessary.
