As directed by the Ranger in Charge, you will plan and deliver the Blackdown Tableland Operational Plan and the Duaringa annual work plan efficiently and effectively. This includes operating and maintaining plant and equipment, controlling pest plants and animals, undertaking planned burning and wildfire suppression activities, and maintaining park infrastructure.
You will also manage small projects, undertake compliance duties, and perform various natural and cultural resource management tasks. Practical skills and experience in maintaining and operating small power equipment and tools for asset maintenance are necessary.
An important aspect of this role is providing on-ground supervision to field-based staff and working collaboratively with others. A strong personal work ethic, good communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. You need to be adaptable and flexible to meet on-the-ground service requirements to ensure high-quality park management services.
Most work will be field-based, but administrative tasks will also be part of your duties.
As a 004 Ranger, you must be able to:
- communicate clearly
- maintain a positive and supportive approach
- work effectively in a team, as a supervisor, and independently
- undertake general estate development and protection duties
- operate and maintain minor plant and equipment
- assist in developing and implementing the annual works program
- undertake law enforcement and compliance duties
- provide general information to park visitors and stakeholders
- assist with emergency response
- monitor workplace health and safety
- perform administrative duties, including record-keeping and procurement
- support and promote the interests of First Nations people
You will engage in activities requiring environmental and service expertise. The position is accountable for personal performance and contributing to team success, considering individual achievement as part of the overall team outcome.
No mandatory qualifications are required for this role, but formal qualifications in Conservation and Land Management are highly regarded.
If you have a positive attitude, the ability to work and live with others, and can occasionally work alone, your application will be seriously considered.
Accommodation is provided at Blackdown Tableland National Park.
To be considered, you must provide:
- your current resume (max 4 pages)
- a 1-2 page statement demonstrating your ability or potential to fulfill the requirements outlined in the "What we are looking for" section
- information that will help us understand how you could contribute to our workforce diversity
Applications will remain current for 12 months.
