This position provides an opportunity for a successful applicant to work with a dynamic, multi-disciplnary research team committed to reducing illicit drug related harms within the wider Victorian community.

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north east of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is home to the Victorian Poisons Information Centre (VPIC) a team of specialist pharmacists, scientists and medical practitioners who provide specialist advice to memebrs of the public following regarding poions and poisoning exposures. In addition the team provides care for poisoned patiens at Austin Health and advice to clinicans managing poisoned patients in health care settings throughout Victoria.

The VPIC team works closely with the Victorian Department of Health, the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, peer agencies, and academics to interpret illlcit substance intelligence and crreate interventions to limit or reduce asociated harm.

The succesful applicant will work collaboratively with individuals exposed to illicit substances, and collaborate with a dynamic team of researchers studying acute illict substance presentations across Victorian Hospital Emergency Departments.

This position requires someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in providing care and advice to individuals from vulnerable communities.
