The role The role is responsible for managing the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of strategic, state-wide initiatives to innovate and reform clinical practice and health, alcohol, and other drugs service delivery systems for substance use disorders and other mental disorders. In this capacity, the role provides expert advice to clinicians, managers, and service executives, aligning activities with best practice frameworks, state and national standards. This involves working collaboratively with various government agencies and health partners to support the development of state-wide clinical governance initiatives, ensuring quality and safety in service delivery.
The role represents Queensland Health on state-wide committeesand involves managing communication and consultation strategies with a wide range of stakeholders, overseeing human and financial resources, and ensuring risk and issue management processes are aligned with the Department of Health's governance structures. The role also involves preparing high-level reports, briefs, and submissions, while leading and supervising staff to maintain a high level of productivity in the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist.
The successful personTo excel in this role, you will need expertise in policy analysis, project management, implementation, evaluation, and quality improvement activities. You should also possess a deep understanding of the mental health alcohol and other drugs service system, including the intricate relationships between government, non-government, and private sectors.
Additionally, you will have extensive knowledge of contemporary evidence-based service delivery models, planning, strategies, legislation, and policy frameworks relevant to the mental health, alcohol, and other drug service system. You must be able to critically evaluate and interpret data to drive service improvement initiatives in these areas, ensuring alignment with health quality and safety standards.
