**Overview of the Team**
The Secretariat is a team within the broader SaSSS team and ensures the effective, timely and accurate delivery of support to the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) and the Seafarers' Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Authority (Seacare Authority) to enable them to fulfil their legislative functions, under their respective legislation. The SRCC and the Seacare Authority both formally meet on a quarterly basis, and have additional meetings and sub-committee and working group meetings as required.
**Overview of the Role**
The Secretariat Officer works in the Secretariat team, within the broader SaSSS team. The role is diverse and dynamic, engaging with and influencing a broad range of stakeholders internally and externally.
The Secretariat Officer:
- Provides secretariat and program support to the SRCC and Seacare Authority to enable them to meet their functions under the relevant legislation.
- Monitors, analyses and reports on compliance with SRCC and Seacare Authority governance, statutory and administrative requirements.
- Builds and maintains relationships with SRCC Members, Seacare Authority Members, and key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate excellence in service delivery.
- Prepares high-level briefs, papers and quality advice for the SRCC, Seacare Authority and Comcare Executive.
- Manages complex issues in accordance with relevant frameworks and legislation.
- Supports the development, coaching and mentoring of staff and build commitment to Comcare's Corporate Plan and strategic priorities.
**Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment**
- Australian citizenship.
- Character clearance (police records check).
- Health clearance.
- Six months probationary period for new engagements.
- Specific Conditions: Some interstate travel may be required, including overnight absences.
