**Position Summary**
**Wrapper/Assistant** - Labels, wraps and displays meat merchandise. Stocks display case and rotates merchandise. Inspects and reassembles equipment for use. Performs routine maintenance for machinery and equipment. Cleans and sanitises work area throughout the day as well as performs duties that comply with the health code. Cleans and sanitises meat department. Dismantles equipment to sanitize. Re-stocks supplies. Assists with stocking cases and follows department procedures for quality and consistency of finished merchandise. Collects laundry and delivers to laundry service pick-up area. Follows proper safety procedures and standards.
**Supervisor** - Supervises and participates in the daily operations of the Meat Department. Supports the Meat Department management team in promoting a high level of productivity. Implements and upholds proper Meat Department and general safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times. Follows proper safety procedures and standards.
**Job Duties/Essential Functions**
**Wrapper/Assistant**:
- Inspects and reassembles equipment sanitised previous night
- Reworks display case and rotates merchandise
- Takes large trays of packaged meat from large wheeled rack and places individual packages into automatic wrapping machine
- Follows safety and security procedures
- Labels merchandise and puts wrapped and labelled merchandise in display case
- Operates meat grinder
- Follows proper department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished merchandise
- Cleans and sanitises area throughout the day
- Performs duties to comply with health code
- Performs routine maintenance for machinery, equipment
- Follows Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) guidelines as it refers to proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required by this position
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Meat Department
- Cleans and sanitises the meat room, meat cooler and supply area
- Washes, applies cleaning agents, wipes, and mops all surfaces
- Pressure washes the entire room, empties drain screen
- Dismantles equipment
- Washes, rinses, and sanitises removable parts
- Wipes down stationary parts with cleaning agent and sprays with pressure washer
- Washes small containers and utensils
- Re-stocks meat room supplies and boxes of meat
- Collects cardboard and trash; operates rubbish compactor and cardboard baler
- Takes laundry to laundry service pick-up area
- Logs sanitation procedures performed on daily report
- Complies with health code
- Follows safety and security procedures and reads labels for proper use and precautions of cleaning products
- Assists with stocking cases and follows department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished product
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors
**Supervisor**:
- Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Meat Department personnel
- Monitors employee performance and provides proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability
- Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination
- Participates in Meat Department employee evaluations
- Responds to employee concerns using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations
- Approves timecards and other reports
- Implements and upholds proper Meat Department and general safety procedures and standards
- Logs sanitation procedures performed on daily report
- Complies with health code
- Follows safety and security procedures and reads labels for proper use and precautions of cleaning products
- Assists with stocking cases and follows department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished product
- Follows Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) guidelines for cleaning and sanitation of all equipment
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Meat Department
- Determines production requirements and participates in meat cutting
- Checks quality and consistency of finished merchandise and oversees merchandise presentation and merchandising
- Reviews sanitation log and checks for health code compliance
- Approves and submits physical inventory periodically and orders to buying office for equipment, merchandise and supplies
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors
