
Specialist, Bank Reconciliations

**Overview**
In your role of Specialist for Bank Reconciliations, you will be responsible for the preparation, review and maintenance of accurate and timely reconciliations of bank accounts. You will act as a point of escalation for the team and enable a highly performing team by working closely with the Team Leader by providing coaching and support.
**Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities**
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients, banks and suppliers
- Preparing and monitoring of weekly/monthly status report as to error statistics and SLA's to the Team Manager
- Collate bank statements and prepare reconciliations for clients that have been assigned to the team
- Investigate rejected transactions with the bank and initiate remedial action where necessary
- Review bank statements and investigate large overdrafts or unusual items
- Timely dispatch reconciliations to clients on monthly, quarterly or six-monthly basis
- Ensure update of paid cheques occurs to client register on a regular basis
- Prepare supporting documentation to substantiate items on the bank reconciliation
- Completion of adhoc tasks such as migrations
- Assist and contribute to the development of peers but supporting on the job training, and where appropriate provide coaching
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
**Experience & Personal Attributes**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred with an understanding of the financial services industry
- Demonstrated experience within reconciliations, ideally 1-2 years
- Problem solving, conflict resolution and delegation skills
- Ability to work as an effective team member and provide support and direction to others
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in PC skills including MS Word / Excel / outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Time management and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
