**About the role**:
We are currently seeking a Compliance Specialist at our Metropolitan Mine. Our Metropolitan mine is an underground coal mining operation located 30 kilometers north of Wollongong in Helensburgh, NSW producing metallurgical coking coal for export and domestic customers.

Reporting to the Compliance Coordinator your duties will include maintenance and execution of tasks to support the Emergency Management System designed to enable mine personnel to respond to and re-establish control of hazards prior to during or after an emergency.

**Duties will include**:

- Response capability required to be implemented during an emergency for the underground and surface parts of the operation.
- Maintenance of the Emergency Management System provisions and equipment.
- Maintenance of controls within the sites Principal Hazard Management Plans and Control Plans.
- Installation, maintenance and design of the sites firefighting equipment, system and capability.
- Support the installation, maintenance and design of the sites stone dusting and coal dust suppression equipment, system and capability.
- Installation, maintenance and design of the sites escapeway equipment, system and capability.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key external stakeholders and regulators.
- Oversee and sign off responsibility for all statutory documentation including risk management.

This position is offered on a Monday - Friday roster and can allow for a residential lifestyle.

**About you**:

- Work Unaccompanied, Mobile Equipment, First Aid
- Working towards or obtained: Mines Rescue Brigadesman
- 3+ years of underground experience

**Job Summary**:

- Manages the day-to-day mining operations of the site to the company's business requirements and within statutory limits.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values
- Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
- Operations scheduling and mine planning
- Develop and enforce grade control procedures
- Direct (contract) mining personnel in their day to day activities of development, longwall and outby
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment
- Provide technical input into the development or acquisition of new mining equipment
- Plan or undertake maintenance on mobile plant
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the company

**EXPERIENCE**
- 5 years relevant operational experience required

**Physical Requirements**:
**Physical Requirements - Surface Environment**
- Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
- Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
- Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
- Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)

**Physical Requirements - Underground Environment**
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work per
