Compliance Officer Role
The role of Compliance Officer is to ensure that our Metropolitan Mine adheres to all relevant regulations and standards. This involves maintaining and executing tasks to support our Emergency Management System, enabling mine personnel to respond to and control hazards prior to, during, or after an emergency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the Emergency Management System provisions and equipment.
- Implementing response capabilities during emergencies for both underground and surface operations.
- Design, installation, and maintenance of firefighting equipment, systems, and capability.
- Support for installation, maintenance, and design of stone dusting and coal dust suppression equipment, systems, and capability.
- Installation, maintenance, and design of escapeway equipment, systems, and capability.
- Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key external stakeholders and regulators.
- Overseeing and signing off on responsibility for all statutory documentation, including risk management.

This position offers a residential lifestyle and a Monday-to-Friday roster. We are seeking a Compliance Officer who has three or more years of underground experience and is working towards or obtained Mines Rescue Brigadesman certification.

We employ over 4,900 people across 18 operations in the United States and Australia. Our mine is an underground coal mining operation in New South Wales.
Key Responsibilities
- Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values.
- Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
- Operations scheduling and mine planning.
- Develop and enforce grade control procedures.
- Direct (contract) mining personnel in their day-to-day activities of development, longwall, and outby.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Provide technical input into the development or acquisition of new mining equipment.
- Plan or undertake maintenance on mobile plant.
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.

- Five years' relevant operational experience required.
