Water Resource Management Specialist

This role is responsible for leading aquatic environment and fish habitat compliance investigations within a Southern district. The position plays a critical role in protecting fish habitats within our rivers, wetlands, and coastal environments.

  • Lead and supervise a team of fisheries officers to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate and undertake risk-based environmental and aquatic habitat compliance activities.
  • Develop and manage environmental and aquatic habitat fisheries compliance programs and operations.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and the public to promote effective communication.
  • Prepare evidence, offence reports, briefing notes, and correspondence to support compliance initiatives.
  • Present evidence in court to ensure justice is served.

The successful applicant will have strong leadership and communication skills, as well as experience in water resource management and compliance.

  • A current manual driver's licence and capability to drive a vehicle.
  • A current Coxswain's certificate* of competency.
  • Colour vision.
  • Swimming ability (200m).
  • HSC or Equivalent.
