We are looking for aTechnical Accountant / Senior Managerto advise Federal Government clients on complex accounting issues and major projects impacting government financial reporting.
This leadership role requires strong technical expertise, stakeholder management, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Contract Summary
Salary: Based on experience

Engagement: Permanent
Responsibilities
Lead technical accounting engagements for Federal Government departments and agencies.
Advise on the application and interpretation ofAustralian Accounting Standards (AASB)including AASB 16, AASB 9, AASB 15, AASB 1058, and others.
Provide expert guidance onfinancial reporting, consolidation, and complex transactions.
Support clients withaudit readiness, accounting policy development, and implementation of new standards.
Ensure compliance withAustralian Government Finance Statistics (GFS)frameworks.
Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Build strong relationships with CFOs, Finance Executives, and Audit Committees across Federal Government clients.
Contribute to thought leadership on technical accounting matters in the Federal sector.
Skills & Experience
CA/CPA qualified(or equivalent) with 8–12+ years of post-qualification experience.
Strong knowledge ofAASB standardsand their application in thepublic sector.
Proven experience working withFederal Government entities, either in professional services or government finance teams.
Deep understanding ofpublic sector financial frameworks, budgeting, and reporting requirements.
Experience leading teams, managing client relationships, and delivering large-scale advisory engagements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
