This newly created role is an opportunity for an experienced and strategic change agent with strong case management skills to lead and coordinate the provision of high-quality proactive service delivery to victims of crime and vulnerable witness in matters prosecuted by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

**About the Role**

The Witness Assistance Service (WAS) is a specialist unit within the ODPP which works as part of the prosecution team to assist and support victims of crime and vulnerable witnesses through the criminal justice process to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient prosecution service.

The Witness Assistance Service, Director leads the operational management of the entire WAS function statewide and holds accountability for ensuring delivery on the ODPP's commitment to victims and witnesses, obligations under the ODPP Prosecution Guidelines and other policies and the NSW Charter of Victim's Rights (Victim Rights and Support Act 2013). The Witness Assistance Service, Director also ensures ODPP staff are given the opportunity to enjoy rewarding and challenging careers and provides strategic and inspirational leadership.

As the Witness Assistance Service, Director you will work closely with the Executive and Director's Chambers to facilitate improved engagement, recognition and input across the Office regarding WAS policy, advice and representation in line with the Office's strategic plan to provide a more trauma informed prosecution service.

**About you (Essential Requirements)**:

- This is a child-related position. Applicants must provide a valid Working With Children Check number or an Application number. A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance is required as a condition of employment. - Degree qualifications in Social Work
- Applicants will also have significant experience in the management of direct service delivery and supervision of staff at a senior level.
- This position also requires the successful applicant to have a current driver's license and willingness to travel to regional areas.

**Remuneration**

Witness Assistance Service, Director - Public Sector Senior Executive Band 1 - with a Total Remuneration Package to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
