The Opportunity
Reporting to the Permitting & Isolation Supervisor, the Permitting & Isolation Officer will be responsible for:
Developing safe work instructions (SWI) for all areas of the processing plant, especially regarding isolations, and coordinating isolation requirements during planned shutdowns.
Creating and issuing permit to work certificates and high risk certificates.
Using software to update and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams.
Maintaining records and legal documents related to high risk work according to Australian standards.
Managing physical and online isolation assets, including labels and registers.
Key Responsibilities
Permitting Officer
Ensuring permits are prepared and compliant with procedures throughout the permit process.
Defining hazards and controls, obtaining sign-off from authorized personnel.
Designing isolation plans to ensure safety of plant equipment.
Preparing work permits and managing isolation lists.
Coordinating with maintenance to ensure safe equipment isolation.
Providing permit to work training and supporting supervisors during planned and unplanned isolations.
Assisting with incident investigations and recommending improvements.
Representing shutdown activities and supporting permit-related matters.
Training and mentoring process operators on permit to work procedures.
Health, Safety, and Environment
Promoting safety and following Life Saving Rules.
Contributing to a zero LTI workplace.
Managing activities to minimize fatigue and risks, including drug and alcohol testing.
Reporting incidents and participating in investigations.
Implementing environmental risk controls and reporting issues.
Continuous Improvement
Controlling costs and improving processing systems.
Suggesting improvements to manuals, procedures, and plant operations.
Reviewing work packages and training materials for relevance and compliance.
Supporting flexible rosters and shutdown requirements.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation, operating on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.
About You
Experience with fixed plant or equipment in mining.
Ability to read P&ID and engineering drawings.
Physical fitness and mechanical aptitude.
Teamwork, initiative, and safety focus.
Proficiency with Projects, Excel, SharePoint/Teams, and Word.
